A visit to Greenwood Credit Union City Hall Plaza in Warwick can be the start of an outing rather than the whole plan. Whether you are meeting friends, taking the family to a scheduled activity, or spending a few hours in Apponaug, it helps to choose your meal before everyone gets hungry.

The useful distinction is location. A restaurant in Apponaug village serves a different plan from a brewpub at Pontiac Mills or a seafood stop at Oakland Beach. The choices below cover those different outings, with addresses so you can judge the route for yourself. Start with the plaza schedule, then choose the meal that fits around it.

Coffee and bagels: Café Tempo

Café Tempo Coffee House, at 32 Toll Gate Road, is an option for starting the day with breakfast or taking a lunch break. Its offerings include homemade bagels, breakfast sandwiches, coffee and espresso drinks, along with lunch sandwiches and baked goods.

This is the kind of stop to consider when breakfast is part of the outing, not something you want to rush through between activities. Review the current menu before leaving, especially if you are ordering for several people with different preferences.

Treat the café as a separate stop on your route. Check its hours against the plaza activity you actually intend to attend; a morning meal does not mean the plaza will have a morning session available.

An Apponaug meal: Vanda Cucina

For an Italian meal in the village, look at Vanda Cucina, 1 Centerville Road. The restaurant offers lunch, dinner and takeout menus, with wine and cocktails also listed on its website. Its published schedule varies by day, so lunch should not be assumed to be available every day.

Vanda is a useful choice when the meal is meant to be a substantial part of the visit. Instead of squeezing dinner into whatever time remains, make a reservation and work backward from it. Allow a gap between finishing at the plaza and sitting down to eat, particularly if children need to change layers or you need to move the car.

Check the current menu and reservation availability directly. That is more helpful than choosing on the strength of an old menu screenshot or a price quoted months ago.

A brewpub stop: Apponaug Brewing Company

Despite its name, Apponaug Brewing Company is at Pontiac Mills, 334 Knight Street. It should be planned as a separate driving stop from City Hall Plaza, rather than described as a restaurant beside the rink.

The brewery has a taproom and food menu, making it another option for a meal after your plaza visit. If you are visiting late, check kitchen hours as well as taproom hours: the brewery states that its kitchen closes before the taproom does.

This pairing works best when you want two distinct parts to the outing: time at the plaza, followed by time at the brewery. Use its own website for the latest menu and opening information rather than assuming that a particular beer or dish will remain available.

Seafood with a waterfront finish: Iggy's

If you are willing to drive to Oakland Beach, you can turn the meal into a second destination. Iggy's Doughboys & Chowder House, 889 Oakland Beach Avenue, offers a casual option known for chowder, clam cakes and doughboys. Iggy's Boardwalk, 885 Oakland Beach Avenue, offers a full-service restaurant format with a broader menu and bar.

Choose between the two based on the meal you want. A takeout order and a waterfront look are a different experience from a reserved table and an unhurried dinner. Neither location should be presented as a walkable extension of the plaza.

Make the timing work

Choose the plaza activity first if it has a fixed session or event time. Put breakfast before it, or leave enough room afterward for dinner without rushing. For a reservation, factor in changing out of activity gear, reaching your car and driving to the restaurant.

Before you leave, check the restaurant's current hours, menu and booking options. For the plaza portion, use our City Hall Plaza visitor guide and the official plaza website. If your group wants more choices, browse our Warwick dining guide.
